David Seymour is the MP for Epsom and ACT Leader. In his time in Parliament he has been responsible for charter schools, regulatory reform, and the End of Life Choice ACT. He has been named MP of the year in two of his six years.

Why is David running for ACT?

I’m seeking for my neighbours to reelect me as the MP for Epsom with their electorate vote. My message in the electorate is twofold. I commit to being a diligent MP, standing up for our community and the individuals in it when we have problems with Government. Second, by strategically voting ACT with your candidate vote, you can bring more additional MPs into Parliament than by voting for any other candidate.

Brooke is ACT's candidate for Wellington Central

Brooke is qualified in international trade and was instrumental in passing the End of Life Choice Act as advisor to David Seymour in Parliament. She has been a factory worker and corporate affairs consultant. Her practical and political experience has given her a deep understanding of the economy and the effect big government policies and rushed laws have on businesses and individuals.

Why is Brooke running for ACT?

I am campaigning to raise ACT's Party Vote in Wellington Central. I switched from being a Green Party Voter to an ACT supporter while studying economics and international trade at Auckland University. The ability for free markets to lift countries from hardship was a revelation for me. Brooke is also a committed social liberal, championing the right to autonomy over our own bodies.

Nicole is ACT's candidate for Rongotai

Nicole is a small business owner, who delivered firearms safety education in rural and isolated communities for the New Zealand Police. She also has a background in law, firearms component imports, and was the coordinator of the nation’s volunteer firearms safety instructors for the Mountain Safety Council and the spokesperson for the Council of Licenced Firearms Owners and its Fair and Reasonable Campaign.

Why is Nicole running for ACT?

I am campaigning to raise ACT’s Party Vote in Rongotai. I do not believe that emotive and rushed legislation that adversely affects those it is intended to support is viable. Our laws should be rooted in policies that recognise our democratic rights to think, to speak and to behave in a legal and unobstructed way. I am standing for ACT because our principles not only promote freedom to live within the law but also efficient policies while treating everyone as equal.

I watched Nicole calmly and intelligently explain why the Government’s knee-jerk response to our nation’s tragedy in Christchurch was ineffective, divisive, and undemocratic. She has the qualities to be an excellent ACT MP, bringing change for a better New Zealand through her reason and intelligence. Chris is ACT's candidate for Nelson

Chris is a full-time secondary teacher, former Policeman of 14 years' experience, and owner of a local hospitality venue employing 30 staff. He has a strong interest in sport and music, being an enthusiastic supporter of the local jazz scene.

Why is Chris running for ACT?

I am campaigning to raise ACT's Party Vote in Nelson. I believe in personal responsibility and personal freedom, in particular the right of free speech, and believe that less bureaucratic and government intervention in our lives is the way forward for New Zealand.

Simon is ACT's candidate for Te Atatū

Simon is a Civil and Environmental Engineer with 23 years' experience in roles for the private sector and local government. This includes ten years leading engineering, planning, tendering, and construction teams primarily in Auckland, Wellington, and Fiji. Simon has three boys at high school. They share a love of loud music, fast cars, biking, fitness, good science, and good ideas. His youngest son has Down Syndrome and Simon intends to take a disability perspective to Parliament.

Why is Simon running for ACT?

I am standing to raise ACT's Party Vote in Te Atatu. I'm standing for ACT because I believe in the principles of the party where communities, individuals and business will lead the way. ACT promotes innovation, not regulation - reducing waste to landfill, bringing real sustainability in construction and building, and clean water in towns and country alike. One task for achieving this is replacing the RMA, which is not fit for purpose and needs to go.

James is ACT's candidate for Waikato

James owns several small businesses, including an immigration law firm. He also works for a large NGO in the mental health sector. James lives in Hamilton with his wife and young daughter. He has led the development of ACT's firearm policy in the wake of the Government's 2019 Arms Amendment Act.

Why is James running for ACT?

I am standing to raise ACT's Party Vote in Waikato. I'm a classical liberal who is skeptical of big Government. My experience in business and the community sector has taught me that Government has a role but when it oversteps that role it becomes part of the problem rather than the solution.

Karen is a self-employed mother of four who has lived on Auckland's North Shore for the last thirty years. She strongly believes that, with the right tools, anyone in this country can make something of themselves. We have spent way too long trying to make a broken system work.

I am standing to raise ACT's Party Vote in Upper Harbour. I love this country but we have slowly taken away people's ability to think for themselves without them even realising it. We have forgotten what hard work and choices mean as there is always someone else to blame. This does not do anyone a favour if we are no longer responsible for ourselves.

Mark is a 48 year old dairy farmer from Ruawai, Northland. He's lived and farmed around the Northland region for 30 years. He has a partner, Jodie, and three children.

Why is Mark running for ACT?

I am standing to raise ACT's Party Vote in Northland. I'm standing for ACT because I feel the rural sector has been let down by successive Governments of both major parties. The last two years have been particularly insulting to the rural community. Now that we have been given back some respect through the COVID-19 crisis, I'd like to see that respect materialise in a better go for farmers in Government policy.

Toni resides in Christchurch East with her husband. Together they run their own business that operates in Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. Before this, Toni was a Qualified Lab Technician at CDHB for 14 years. A long-time ACT campaigner, Toni is a licensed firearm owner who understands the impact of the gun law reforms the Government implemented last year have had on law-abiding citizens in New Zealand.

Why is Toni running for ACT?

I am campaigning to raise ACT's Party Vote in Christchurch East. I hold strong values of self-responsibility, less government interference, freedom of choice. I lived through the devastating Canterbury earthquakes as the community came together to rebuild businesses and homes. This year New Zealand faces Covid-19 and we all must rebuild again not just in Christchurch, Kaikoura but the whole of New Zealand. We need common sense solutions – which the ACT Party always has.

A founding member and former media spokesperson for the Auckland Ratepayers Alliance, she has a proven track record in eliminating wasteful Council spending. A former Deputy Chair of the Orakei Local Board, she has held leadership positions within her community as Chair of Friends of Pourewa Valley, and Co-Chair of the Tamaki Estuary Environment Forum.

I am standing to raise ACT's Party Vote in Tāmaki. I have felt a growing concern for some time over the steady erosion of the basic tenets of democracy in the country I love. Botched firearms legislation overriding our basic private property rights, nonsensical introduction of hate speech law, a bloated regulatory regime creating roadblock after roadblock preventing development. Government overreach into our private and business lives has become unacceptable, and a stranglehold on progress and productivity. It's time for that to change so this beautiful nation of ours may fulfill its exciting potential. Cameron is a self-employed builder and married father of two kids who lives in Papamoa where he was raised. Cameron's seven year “OE” was in a great little place next to Te Urewera National park named Galatea, share-milking a 200ha operation. He won Apprentice of the Year at the Dairy Industry Awards, but the most important experience he had during this time was joining a community and developing relationships with people in the one of the poorest, most deprived areas in the region. He observed the damage which government can wrought on a community with many hard working people, and how policies which restrict development, movement, and self-reliance can cause areas to decline.

Robert is ACT's candidate for Taieri

Robert has worked as a professional shooter and hunter for over 30 years, involved in pest eradication in lower South Island. Since 1990 I have been self-employed, working for the Pest Board and on private contract pest control, venison recovery, TBfree monitoring and survey contracts. I also use firearms recreationally as a hunter, as a member of a pistol club and in competition. He placed in the top ten for his category at the 2018 world champs, and is a collector of historical firearms.

I am campaigning to raise ACT's Party Vote in Taieri. I saw first hand the issues caused by the Muldoon government, unions, and the Labour party of the past. I am a firm believer in the backbone of New Zealand being small business, limited government, and people's right of self-determination.

Sean is an Engineering professional from Otago. He has more than 13 years experience in management and leadership roles within multinational corporations, including several years spent in expatriate mentoring roles in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Papua New Guinea. His work focuses on the area of Asset Management and Reliability. Sean lives in Lake Hawea with his partner Nicola.

I am pleased to be standing to promote the Party Vote in the Waitaki. With a greater ACT influence in government I wish to see all New Zealanders given the freedom to determine their own individual outcomes in life and succeed. ACT party values align closely with my own, respecting the important relationship between cause and effect, and the need for productivity to facilitate an environment where we can invest for a better tomorrow. In my work and travel I have witnessed the dis-empowering impacts of excessive and oppressive governance and never wish to see these ideas gain traction in New Zealand. He has worked as a plumber gasfitter, captained passenger ferries and motor yachts in Auckland and Sardinia, Italy, and navigated and fished New Zealand’s coast.

Richard is a practicing Chartered Professional Engineer (Civil and Structural). He's an employer of over 25 staff in the electorate. As a 1990’s immigrant, he sees himself as a conscientious Kiwi with a passion for his region and our country. As a long-standing resident of the Marlborough/Kaikōura area he wishes to see the region recover from COVID impacts quickly, with Kiwi ingenuity rather than government intervention.

I am campaigning to raise ACT's Party Vote in Kaikōura. My values and those of ACT are freedom of choice coupled with personal responsibility. I have a keen interest in assisting Small Business, especially with their interaction with Local Government. I support the removal of red tape and poorly written laws, and want to reinforce personal and property rights and make doing business easier.

Tommy is a mechatronics engineer who now specialises in data analysis. He has worked at a coal mine in Westport, at an astronomy research institute in Perth, as a builder in Auckland, in high tech manufacturing (RAKON, F&P Appliances), in his family’s small business, and even on a German farm.

I am standing to raise ACT's Party Vote in Maungakiekie. I'm standing for ACT’s principles of freedom and responsibility: respecting other people’s right to live according to their own values, and understanding that incentives matter – that high taxes and less responsibility changes people’s behaviour and limits our success.

Hamish grew up on a farm in Windwhistle, with his family having farmed in Canterbury since 1842. His career began in London marketing some of the world’s biggest brands before he went on to help launch multiple technology companies in the UK before returning to NZ with his wife Suzy. Hamish has led marketing and business development for Tait and Fonterra, and has also co-founded a rural solar energy company and an online retail platform. Nick is a partner of a medium-sized law firm in Takapuna, and holds a Masters degree in Law with a focus on real estate. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Nick was a police officer. Nick is a longstanding member of Act, having joined the party in 1996 and he has stood in 6 successive elections.
